You can find rangers in state and national parks where they protect the land, including forests and lakes. They teach safety, lead hikes, watch for fires, enforce laws and help visitors learn about wildlife. Park rangers use many different types of vehicles depending on their environment. They may use horses, snowmobiles, helicopters or boats. You can recognize a park ranger by his/her uniform, which is usually, tan, green or gray. Some park rangers may carry guns but they all use computers to check weather reports, maps and first aid kits. Training usually includes college, and they need to have a variety of skills, including physical and mental capabilities.
