Many people were complaining their pants were ripping. Levi solicited the help of tailor Jacob Davis and together they created and patented work pants that had copper rivets placed in the areas that often ripped. These work pants were unlike any other and were very durable, which made them popular and made Levi a very successful businessman. This story, told in a very succinct and informative way, would be an excellent complement to lessons on the Gold Rush or Levi Strauss.
