Nursing researchers and graduate students in nursing will be the primary audience for this volume. As with the first edition, nurses in all phases of education, from basic to doctoral, from formal university and college-based programs to continuing education offerings, within all health systems, will find this an important introduction to current nursing research topics. Elizabeth A. Abel This is a comprehensive, concise, easy-to-use reference. The list contributors are clearly delineated, the alphabetical list of topics are comprehensive, and acronyms are defined. Each content section follows a similar format and the use of two columns on each page is visually appealing for ease of reading. The purpose is to provide a comprehensive, concise, authoritative guide to nursing research. This book provides information and expertise related to a variety of nursing research topics. In today's market of rapid growth of knowledge there is a need for quick references. This book is written for graduate nursing students and nursing researchers, but all nurses would find it an excellent introduction to a variety of topics in nursing research. Given the space limitations, a wide variety of topics are covered and cross-referenced with three to five other topics. This provides the reader with alternative perspectives, and this format may be helpful for those seeking research ideas and projects. The subject areas are generally well covered. The variety of topics that are cross-referenced, the list of definitions, reference list, and list of journals (nursing research) make this book a one stop read for getting started. This is a ""where to go to begin"" book. I would have liked to see a list of research tools and where they can be accessed. A list or table of areas where research is needed would also be helpful. As some who use this book will be new to research, information on how to access literature on line would be helpful. This ""first time"" book provides valuable listing of the breadth and depth of nursing research. It should be marketed to other disciplines in thehealthcare field. I could not put this book down, as I kept going back to see what others were doing in fields other than my own.
