This one concentrates on activities for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and older children. The first chapter talks about planning for fun. Suggestions are to pick baby-sitting activities that the baby-sitter also enjoys, in addition to learning about activities that are appropriate for each age group. Chapter two focuses on entertaining babies. Colorful board books, textured books, and toys that make noise are a few suggestions. There are also reminders that babies at different ages require different activities. A six month old can roll from back to stomach, while a nine month old can crawl, stand with help, and play pat-a-cake. Keeping toddlers busy is also discussed. Baby-sitters can help toddlers learn by helping them use shape sorters or stacking toys. Chapter three also includes finger plays and songs for children one through three. Chapter four mentions a variety of activities that are appropriate for preschoolers and older children. Some of them are board games, painting, art work, and Playdough. Outside activities such as follow the leader and tag are also mentioned. Quiet bedtime activities are discussed in chapter eight. Reading books and singing gentle songs are recommended. This is a very good guidebook to help baby-sitters keep their young charges busy and happy. Color photographs are included.
